History

École Our Lady of the Rosary School welcomed its first students in September 2007 and quickly became home to the Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 2 children in Sylvan Lake and area. A contest had been held the previous year and offered children and community members the opportunity to name the school. Josh and Charlotte Gervais’s submission was chosen.

The official opening was held March 11, 2008, with Archbishop Richard Smith blessing the school and representatives of government bringing greetings. The school quickly became part of the Ryder's Ridge community, welcoming children and their parents to work and share their faith together. Parents and community members worked together to build a Rosary garden, open classroom, and two playgrounds, one of which is barrier free during the first year.
