Being physically active and playing active games helps your child learn basic fundamental movement skills which enhances their physical literacy and confidence in moving their bodies. One of the key benefits to being active is good Self-esteem. When kids are curious about trying something new and you help them explore and repeat activities they gain confidence. This confidence will then allow them to be motivated, confident and competent to be Active for Life.
Even the simplest activities provide opportunities to build relationships. When you think about “relationship building”, it doesn’t have to be serious and difficult. It can be simple. It can be easy. It can be fun. Here’s one way to build your relationship with your children!
This week’s asset challenge: Learn a new card game or play a favorite board game with your children.
Having healthier food choices at home that are available, accessible and visible can potentially increase intake for children as well as adults. This week have various vegetables and fruit “ready to eat” in the refrigerator as well as a bowl of fruit on the counter.
