Celebrating Carnival de Quebec
The Carnival de Quebec, a winter carnival, started in 1890 as a way to celebrate winter. The first modern winter carnival happened in the year 1955 to encourage people to visit Quebec. This is a French-Canadian festival that happens every year and we also celebrate it yearly at our school.
Mme Basta shared a French and English slideshow presentation to teach our students about the carnival. Students viewed this slideshow after they went outside to work together to build snow forts and/or do other outdoor activities. They did a great job sharing squirt bottles filled with food colouring and being creative!
Those classes who did not participate in Carnival activities this week will continue to try to get outside and have some fun next week, weather permitting.
