Reading Rocks Read-A-Thon 2017
École Our Lady of the Rosary School Council is excited to announce the start of our new fundraiser, the Reading Rocks Read-A-Thon!!!!
The proceeds from this fundraiser will be used to pay for field trips. A few of the tentative field trips scheduled for this school year include Sunnybrook Farms, Calgary Zoo, Telus Sparks Science Center, Ellis Bird Farm, Red Deer Hospital and Kraay Family Farm. With our growing student population, School Council has budgeted $8000 for field trips for the 2016/17 school year. Previous fundraisers have raised $3000 to be used towards field trips and our Read-A-Thon fundraising goal is $5000.00. Field trips are monumental in enhancing our student’s education and we look forward to your support with this fundraiser.
Students and staff will track student’s in-school reading during the week of February 13th (February 13-17, 2017). Each student will read (or be read to) for at least 15 minutes per school day. Once the numbers are tallied School Council will report how many minutes students spent reading that week. We encourage all parents/guardians to continue to encourage literacy at home by listening to your child(ren) read, discussing stories and reading the library books your child(ren) sign out from the school library.
We hope that students will ask family, friends, neighbours, and local businesses for their support. All donations that exceed $20.00 can receive a tax receipt from Red Deer Catholic School Division. Receipts will be emailed to supporters.
With our amazing school community we are very optimistic about reaching our $5000 fundraising goal.
Pledges are to be collected for the Reading Rocks Read-A-Thon from February 7-22, 2017.
All Pledge Form Envelopes and money must be returned to the school by February 22, 2017.
